Production approval
Drawing approval is the final checkpoint for custom signage. It confirms the design, triggers the balance payment and authorises production.
Important terms at a glance
Spelling, size, quantity, colour, layout, power and fixing details must be confirmed before approval.
Unless your quote states otherwise, the remaining balance is due immediately on approval.
After approval, change-of-mind cancellations are non-refundable, subject always to Australian law.
A “shop drawing” is the production drawing, proof, layout or specification we provide for review before manufacture. Approval is your final written confirmation that the design shown is correct and that Unified Signage may procure materials and begin production.
Approval may be given by signing the drawing, replying by email, accepting through an online process or otherwise giving clear written authority. Verbal comments or preliminary concepts are not approval unless we confirm them in writing.
Before approval, check every word, spelling, number, logo, quantity, overall dimension, letter height, scale, colour, finish, material, illumination direction, brightness specification, mounting method, backing, return depth, cable exit, power location, fixing pattern and layout.
You must also confirm the sign fits the intended location, clearances and site conditions. If anything is missing, unclear or different from your expectation, do not approve the drawing—mark the change and return it for revision.
Unless our quote expressly includes a site survey or engineering, dimensions and site information supplied by you or your contractors are treated as final. You are responsible for wall construction, structural capacity, concealed services, access, power provision, permits and installation suitability.
Drawings are not structural or electrical certification unless expressly identified as such. Mains electrical work and any work requiring a licence must be completed by appropriately licensed professionals.
Digital previews and the Design Studio are concept tools, not production artwork. Colours, illumination and finishes shown on a screen are approximate. Actual appearance varies with material batches, ambient light, viewing angle, power, finish and the display used to view the proof.
Minor fabrication tolerances, joins, fasteners, wiring paths, material grain, welds, return depths and brightness variation may occur within stated specifications and acceptable industry practice. Request and approve a physical sample before production if exact colour or finish matching is essential and the quote allows for it.
Unless your accepted quote states a different milestone, approval makes the full remaining balance immediately due. We are not required to order materials or start production until cleared payment is received. Any delay in approval or payment moves the estimated production and delivery dates accordingly.
Once approval is given, your signage is a bespoke order and production commitments may begin immediately. All amounts paid are non-refundable for change of mind, cancellation or an error that appears in the approved drawing, except where we agree otherwise in writing or a refund is required by the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law.
Contact us immediately if you discover an issue. We will try to pause work but cannot guarantee that materials, labour or supplier commitments can be stopped. A requested change is only accepted when we confirm feasibility, added cost and a revised timeframe in writing.
If we accept a cancellation and can reasonably avoid or recover some costs, we will account for that amount after deducting design work, production completed and reasonable, documented, non-recoverable commitments. This clause protects costs genuinely caused by an approved custom order; it is not intended to impose a penalty.
If the manufactured goods accurately follow the approved drawing, customer-approved spelling, dimensions, colours, quantities or layout cannot later be treated as a manufacturing defect merely because the customer changes their mind or supplied incorrect information.
We remain responsible where the goods do not conform to the approved drawing, or where a failure results from our workmanship, materials, misleading conduct or another matter for which the law makes us responsible. Nothing in these terms excludes a statutory guarantee or remedy.
You confirm that supplied logos, artwork, fonts, names, photographs and other content are accurate and that you have permission for us and our contractors to use them for the order. Low-resolution, incomplete or unsuitable files may need to be recreated or adjusted, subject to your approval and any agreed cost.
These Approved Drawings Terms form part of your contract together with the accepted quote, invoice or order confirmation, our Terms & Conditions and Shipping Terms. The accepted quote controls price and commercial scope; the latest approved shop drawing controls the final technical design. Australian law and mandatory consumer rights continue to apply.
